Label: Island Records – 12 IS 305 Released: 1987. 7 inch – 108 833
The 7 Inch vinyl version had Disaster as the B side whereas the 12 Inch version had Disaster, Mock Turtle and Warwick the Kingmaker as additional tracks.
The first piece of artwork on the original art-board contains all paste-ups PMTs overlays and handwritten production notes. it measures approx 11×14 inches and contains the full mock up for the advertisement for the single for NME
The second piece is the master airbrushed artwork for the master photograph used for the ads. The singles themselves would have used a colour transparency for the printer artwork as these artworks are in black and white. measuring approx 20×15 inches.
Both artworks are in excellent condition and Pop Nouveau Gallery have confirmed their authenticity as original production artworks.
Original Production artwork is the rarest of this genre of Pop Art. It is the Master Artwork and as such is the only one in existence. This artwork would have been used to produce a handful (at most) of proofs for approval by the band, record company or management before finally going to print. In the 1990’s artworks such as these were produced digitally and as such these artworks are very rare and increasingly sought after and hard to find.
